Bio
Prior to taking on the role of The Phantom, Gleason made history by performing the starring role of the romantic interest Raoul, more than anyone else in history, over 2,600 times. Gleason did not study acting and singing until he was 27, when he left the corporate world to pursue a career in theater. After much success on Broadway and tour, he now resides in Los Angeles, and is poised to embrace new challenges and achievements within the film and television mediums.
Previously, Gleason originated several theater roles, including Romeo in Tony Award winner Terrence Mann's musical Romeo & Juliet: The Rock Opera at The Goodspeed Opera House and Adam Gernstein in The Rhythm Club at The Signature Theatre, a role for which he received a prestigious Helen Hayes Award nomination.
When not auditioning or reading screenplays, the New Jersey native spends time at his home in Burbank with his golden retriever Madison. The athletic Gleason was a Varsity high school baseball player and to date has been to 29 different MLB parks across the country. He enjoys golf as well as playing poker, and also lends his time and talents to several charities, including St. Louis Cardinals' MLB manager Tony LaRussa's Animal Rescue Foundation (ARF), which holds an annual musical benefit called Stars to the Rescue. This year's event will take place in St. Louis, MO on January 15, 2011, and Gleason will perform along with Kevin Pollack, grammy nominated country singer David Nail and Billy Bob Thornton and his band, The Boxmasters.
On his first audition, literally the day after Phantom closed its tour, Gleason landed a role on J.J. Abrams' Undercovers for NBC, leaving no doubt that this versatile and skilled actor will continue to entertain audiences for years to come with inspired performances for the big and small screens.
